I would like to see the media stop calling these
people “Islamist” terrorists. Followers
of Islam were often called Muhammadans in the past, but now they are called
Muslims. Presumably, to appease the
sensitivities of your average Muslim, these murderous shits are called
Islamists, as if that makes them different to a Muslim. They should be called Muslim Terrorists. And if the various Muslim bodies don’t like
it, then they should be told to go and sort the evil scum out.

IMHO racism is the logical endpoint of a chain of mind sets – tribalism > patriotism > nationalism > racism. It’s the idea that your tribe, nation, race, is superior to the rest. It’s irrational because if you were born somewhere else, you would believe a different tribe, nation, race was the most superior. It could be argued that it’s the ultimate arrogance; my race is best because I was born in it, in other words, because of me.
Of course black people can be racist. I think one of the most virulent racists I’ve come across in my life was a black kid I was at school with. It was kids like him that turned me racist until JWs cured me of it. Much later on a black Muslim man married an extended member of my family, and he was an equally virulent racist. I’ve also met a few white equivalents, but generally speaking, most people I’ve met in my life, both black and white, are just ordinary decent people. -

by LoveUniHateExams ini haven't read his new book, but i've read bits of it that were serialised in a newspaper.. attenborough is a fascinating man and has a lot of interesting things to say.. his new book is about the environment and how to save it, basically.. he wants us to drastically cut down our meat intake and eat more fruit and veg.

Can you explain that statement please? From what I can gather the total metropolitan population of the USA’s five largest cities (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston and Phoenix) is about 65 million, which is just under 20% of the total population. What am I missing?

While I accept the ‘fact’ that CO2 emissions are a major contributor to global warming, I wonder why activists target fossil fuelled transportation as the prime culprit. I haven’t done any research to fact check this (and I can’t be bothered to anyway), but on the news last night, in a item on UK farming following Brexit, it claimed that the world’s beef/diary/pig/sheep farms (including attendant deforestation) produce many times more CO2 emissions than all the cars, buses, trains, planes and factories put together. It’s a rhetorical question, but why don’t they campaign for a ban on meat sales? It would have a bigger impact.

I too remember it well. It was one of those shows that was always talked about the next day at school. They've been re-running it on the 'CBS Justice' channel (39) here in the UK for some time, along with the original Mission Impossible series.
